About Qualcomm Snapdragon
Qualcomm Snapdragon chips are specially designed for mobile devices. The Processor includes ARM RISC instruction set where an SoC can include many CPU and GPU cores along with the wireless modem and many other features.
If we look at the history, the first Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor was manufactured in 2007 named as QSD8250, and that was first 1 GHz processor. In 2013 at Consumer Electronics Show they have introduced its 800 series of the processors which is still booming in the market.
But lets put Snapdragon aside and talk about Qualcomm do you know about it? of course not. Let us tell you it is one of the biggest semiconductor and telecommunications equipment American company and it was created in 1985. The company made 22.73 billion USD in 2018 which is enough to tell you how big it is.
About MediaTek Processors
The Company was founded back in 1997 in Taiwan, it is a fabless semiconductor company that provides chips for smartphones, wireless communications, televisions and more. On June 2, 2015, they have launched its first 6753 Octa-Core chip in Meizu’s M1 Note, the M2 Note later they have also introduced it with Meizu M2.
After that, they never looked back in this industry and currently, they are rocking the market with Helio X and Helio P series chips. We are seeing a lot of devices with MediaTek’s processors. MediaTek is not as big as Qualcomm but to give you an idea their revenue of 2016 was around 9 Billion USD which indicates they are also a big player.
For now, MediaTek Processors are mostly used in mid-range and low-end devices, they had tried to get in high-end devices with its X series but they were badly failed. So constantly they are improving and focusing on a low and mid-segment.
Qualcomm Snapdragon Up to date Processors
There are many current trending processors from the company in the market and of course, there is no use of talking about its old of processors. Because you only came here to read about the best between MediaTek VS Snapdragons processors and giving you a list of old processors and comparing will not work.
Snapdragon 835, 845 (2017/18)
Back in 2018, we were witnessing all the headsets wit 835 and 845 and yes they were very powerful at the time. The 835 and 845 had some best running smartphones in the list like OnePlus 6 series and Galaxy S8 and S9 series. MediaTek Up to date Processors
The list below belongs to MediaTek’s processors which are currently being used in the market till 2019. These chips belong to high-end and low-end categories, where the fight is very tough with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.
MediaTek Helio P90 (High-end)
The Helio P90 is a beast from the house of MediaTek, it is based on 12 nm FinFET technology. The latest chips offer 2x high-end Cortex-A75 cores at 2.2 GHz and also you are going to get 6x Cortex-A55 utility cores clocked at 2 GHz, this indicates that it is more energy-efficient and powerful compared to its previous chip. It is directly competing with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor. If we talk about supported smartphones in the market then we have very fewer devices like Ulefone T3, Blackview, and some others. The P90 is very news chip and still, we can’t find many smartphones running on it but definitely the year 2019 and 2020 will make a long list of devices.
MediaTek Helio P70 (Mid-Range)
The Helio P70 is the best processor for Mid-range smartphones, it is introduced in 2019, which means that it is one of the recent products from the company. It packs Cortex-A73/A53 octa-core CPU out of the box, if we compare it with P60 it gives13% more performance. In Scores, approx 140k AnTuTu score that makes is one of the powerful chips in this range. As we know that its a recent chip from the company but now many smartphone’s packs it like, the first was from the Realme 3, then later they introduced Realme U1 with the same chip and now we have a wide range of smartphones like Vivo S1, Vivo V15, OPPO F11 Pro and many others.
MediaTek Helio P60 (Mid-Range)
It was one of the successful chips from the company after that P series started gaining some attention. Like many other processors from the company, it also runs on 12 nm technology and supports 4x ARM Cortex A53 with Clock frequency up to 2 GHz and 2x Cortex A73.
