Nokia 2, a budget Android smartphone, was announced at a global event in India on October 31, 2017. The main USP of the phone is its 2 day battery life on a single charge. It is priced at 99 Euros and was supposed to go on sale from mid-november. Originally, the Nokia 2 comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM but a 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM variant will be launched in India, according to our sources. This is mainly because of the intense competition among OEMs in India and also 2GB RAM and 16GB storage for a budget smartphone at this price point is pretty standard nowadays.
The Indian pricing of the Nokia 2 has not been officially announced yet but we have come to know that it will be priced at Rs. 6,999 for the 1GB RAM variant and it will go on sale by the end of November via offline retail stores. The 2GB RAM variant will be available exclusively via Flipkart by the end of December for Rs. 7,999. Recently, the company had launched the 3GB RAM variant of the Nokia 5 on Flipkart for Rs. 13,499. Take a look at the specifications of the budget Nokia Android phone below.
The Nokia 2 features a 5-inch LTPS LCD In-Cell display, that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), pixel density of 294 PPI and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Out of the box, the phone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and it is upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo OS as well. The phone is being powered by a 1.3GHz Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor along with Adreno 304 GPU. We get 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 8GB of internal storage but the user can expand it further up to 128GB by adding a microSD card. A 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant is expected to be launched exclusively on Flipkart soon.
The Nokia 2 rocks a 8 megapixel primary camera with LED flash at the back. We get a 5 megapixel selfie camera on the front. Both of them can shoot videos in HD resolution. There is a 3.5mm audio jack along with FM Radio. It is 9.3mm thick and comes with a 6000 series aluminium frame and a polycarbonate back. The mobile is also splash proof with IP52 rating.
In the connectivity department, the Nokia 2 includes 4G VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS/GLONASS. It supports Dual SIM and comes with a dedicated microSD card slot. It packs in a 4100mAh battery (non-removable) under its hood but sadly it does not support fast charging.
